How to Choose the best Mother of the Bride or Groom shoes

How to Choose the best Mother of the Bride or Groom shoes

The wedding of a daughter or son is not just the most important day of their life, it’s also a hugely important and significant day for the mother of the bride or groom. If this is you, we have no doubt you will want to look fabulous on this special day. But looking fabulous is only part of feeling truly confident. You also need to feel fabulous. Often it is shoes that let women down, especially for women who have wide feet, problem feet or bunions. If your shoes are painful, it will become the only thing that occupies your mind and you won’t be free to truly enjoy the day. That is why it is so important to choose shoes that fit properly. Don’t feel you need to choose between style and comfort when Sargasso & Grey can offer you both. Here are some top tips for choosing the right shoes that will make you look and feel amazing…

Try shoes on in the afternoon

You may have spotted the perfect looking shoes but do they actually fit? Feet tend to swell as the day goes on so always try shoes on in the afternoon. If they feel tight when you first wear them, chances are this is how they are going to feel all day, plus tight shoes will rub and this will give you blisters creasing even more pain and discomfort.

Choose the right width for your feet

Most shoes are made in a standard D fitting but 53% of women we surveyed said they needed a wider fitting shoe which means that many shoe brands will not fit properly. Whilst the difference in width from a standard width to a wide width shoe is usually only a few millimetres this can make a huge difference to how the they feel on your feet, changing the feeling from ouch to oooh! Find shoes that offer extra width in the toe box area. This extra width offers feet a little more space to relax, preventing cramped toes and nasty blisters.

Choose a thicker heel if you are not used to wearing high heels

Choose the right heel height so you can walk with confidence and dance all night!

If you are not used to wearing high heels don’t be tempted to wear shoes with a sky-high heel. Find a style with a sufficient heel that is high enough to let you walk tall yet without leaving you tottering uncomfortably. If you don’t usually wear high heels but you really want to wear a higher heel, our advice is to choose a thicker heel which will offer more stability.

Our shoes have padded insoles and breathable arch supports

Opt for shoes with added comfort features

You will spend a lot of time on your feet throughout the wedding, even before you tear up the dance floor! That is why we advise choosing shoes with added comfort features such as padded insoles and arch supports. All of our shoes have leather insoles containing Poron memory foam padding. Our closed style shoes also contain breathable arch supports to cushion the most tender part of the foot. Your feet will feel like they have found heaven in heels!
